Conditions for registered mail (R)

Things to note

Certain conditions must be met to ensure that your registered mail (R) can be processed correctly. The most important requirements at a glance:

Content limits

Content limits apply to consignments of valuables using registered mail (R). If these limits are exceeded, Swiss Post will not be held liable for these items. On this point, please note the General Terms and Conditions for Postal Services and the brochure, "Secure transport for your valuables".

Preparation

Letters to be sent by registered mail (R) must be handed in in a sealed envelope and show the sender. Closing tabs or adhesive strips must be marked with the identity of the sender or the stamp of the place of mailing.

Mailing

Barcode lists for the dispatch of registered letters are available in electronic form. Consignment barcodes can be ordered online at My Post Business. If you want to create the barcodes yourself, you will find the specifications in the "Barcodes and Data Matrix codes" manual. An overview of the documentation and forms available can be found under "Downloads".

In addition, our Barcode web service for obtaining barcodes electronically has been available since March 2011.

Items must be handed in no later than the regular counter closing time of the acceptance point.
