2010 wage round: Social partners agree on 0.7%

Press release dated 22.12.2009

All employees subject to the Swiss Post collective employment contract (CEC) will receive a 0.7% salary increase. The negotiation delegations of Swiss Post and the trade unions Kommunikation and transfair agreed on this general salary measure. In addition, Swiss Post will pay the total employee contribution towards reorganization of the Swiss Post pension fund. Swiss Post is setting aside 0.8% of the total salary sum for individual performance-related remuneration. The decision-making bodies of the social partners still have to approve the outcome.

The negotiation delegations of Swiss Post and the trade unions have agreed on the following:

  • Employees subject to the Swiss Post CEC will receive a general salary increase of 0.7% next year.
  • Moreover, Swiss Post will take on the entire employee contribution of 1% for 2010 which will go towards reorganizing the Swiss Post pension fund. The Swiss Post pension fund had informed all actively insured persons last November about the necessary statutory restructuring measures.
  • Swiss Post is setting aside 0.8% of the total salary sum for individual remuneration.

These salary measures for 2010 affect the 37,000 or so employees who are subject to the Swiss Post CEC. The negotiations for employees of PostBus Switzerland Ltd, PostLogistics Ltd, InfraPost AG and SecurePost Ltd will be concluded in January 2010 at the earliest.

Decision-making bodies' approval outstanding

The decision-making bodies at Swiss Post and the unions still have to approve the outcome of the negotiations. At Swiss Post this is the Board of Directors, at Kommunikation the company conference for the postal/logistics sector and at transfair the industry plenum.
