Strategy "eGovernment"

Strategy "eGovernment"

The Confederation’s national eGovernment strategy

Efficient government processes make Switzerland an attractive location for companies, private organizations and Swiss citizens. Digital networking makes contact between people and the administration easier and more efficient, while the increased use of modern communication technologies is also relevant in the fields of education and research and in the healthcare sector.

To ensure that electronic technologies are rapidly introduced into public administration, the Confederation and cantons have joined forces and drafted a national eGovernment strategy.

Key objectives:

  • Industry is to deal with the public authorities electronically.
  • The authorities are to modernize their business processes and deal with each other electronically.

Swiss residents are to be able to deal electronically with important (i.e. frequent or particularly complex) public administration issues.

Swiss Post supports the ePower initiative

The government/industrial "ePower for Switzerland" initiative was launched in Berne on 19 September 2005 with joint objectives aimed at making Switzerland a superior ICT location. The goal of the initiative is to better exploit the potential of information and communication technologies in Switzerland. This alliance of around 40 top representatives from the areas of politics, industry, administration and science is intended to secure political commitment to promoting ICT and make the public aware of its importance.
"ePower for Switzerland" is supported by Swiss Post, among other companies and organizations.
