The Yellow Identification - General Terms and Conditions

The Yellow Identification - General Terms and Conditions

Service

"The Yellow Identification" service enables customers (hereinafter referred to as the Customer) to be identified at a post office by means of an official photo-based identification document. Swiss Post checks the identification document and prepares a certified copy.

Identity check

Swiss Post carefully checks the presented identification document and confirms by means of the "Original document seen by" stamp that the copy is based on the original identification document. Unless Swiss Post can be shown to have acted with gross negligence, it shall not be liable for damages arising from the failure to detect deficiencies or forgeries. Swiss Post shall be entitled to reject the submitted identification documents.

List of official photo-based identification documents

The official photo-based identification documents accepted by Swiss Post are restricted to the identification of natural persons and are managed in a list. This list can be consulted at  «Identification documents».

Proxies

Customers must appear personally at the post office counter in order to make use of the service. Proxies are not admissible.

Subsequent business relationship

Swiss Post explicitly states that the Customer does not acquire any claim to the establishment of a business relationship with a contracting partner as a result of having provided a certified copy of the identification document. The respective contracting partner shall be solely responsible for deciding whether the identification document used to identify the contracting partner is accepted or whether a business relationship is established. Swiss Post accepts no liability for damages arising from a deficient identification of the customer.

Secrecy and data protection

Swiss Post shall not archive any copies in connection with this service. Swiss Post further undertakes not to misuse submitted identification documents for its own purposes or to forward them to third parties.

Changes to the General Terms and Conditions

Swiss Post reserves the right to amend the General Terms and Conditions at any time.
