Outline
- Service for new customers of all financial institutions who wish to establish the business relationship by post in accordance with clause 11 paragraph 1 lit. c CDB 03.
- Certification of official photo-based identifying document for all individuals.
- Conformity with banking requirements confirmed by the Swiss Bankers Association.
- The service is to be offered in all post offices across Switzerland (excl. PostFinance advice centres).
Tasks of the financial institution
- Inform your new customers about the stricter requirements concerning the identification of the contracting partner and the need for certification of the copy of the official identification document.
- Inform your new customers of the option to have their proof of identity certified at any Swiss Post post office and describe the procedure. Customers must bring their official photo-based identification document (preferably a passport or ID card).
Procedure at the counter
- Your new customer goes to the counter of a post office of his choice and asks for "The Yellow Identification"
- The Swiss Post employee checks the presented identification document (validity, photo), copies the required pages (personal details, photo, validity, any renewal) and stamps the copy of the presented identification document with the "Original document seen by" stamp. The Swiss Post employee then writes his surname and first name on the stamped form (in blue), signs the form and applies the post office date stamp.
- The identification document and the certified copy are handed to your new customer. The new customer pays the fee of CHF 20 for "The Yellow Identification" and sends the certified copy to the financial institution in order to establish the business relationship.
No documents are kept by Swiss Post, thus ensuring absolute discretion.
