Items for the blind

Carried as A Mail free of charge

Swiss Post carries items, known as cécogrammes, which are either addressed to or posted by blind people or institutions for the blind as A Mail items free of charge.

Provided they are marked «Items for the blind», shipments addressed or posted by blind people or institutions for the blind can be sent anywhere in Switzerland free of charge.

Conditions

• The consignments do not have any commercial purpose.
• They are not sealed.
• They contain documents in Braille or sound recordings.
• The description "Item for the blind" must appear on the address side.

Payment:

• Domestic mail up to 7 kg is postage-free.
• Registered mail, return receipts and COD items are free of charge.
• Items for the blind which exceed the maximum size for letters or which weigh more than 1kg will be carried subject to the conditions for parcels.
