Wankdorf City

Swiss Post concluded a general rental agreement with Losinger AG in spring 2011 for the "Majowa" building, which has yet to be constructed in the Wankdorf City area. The company intends to build its head office on the site, covering around 30,000 square metres.

Status of work

The preliminary work is under way:

• the building application has been submitted, and the legally valid planning permission should be obtained by autumn 2011.
• Construction work should be able to start in summer 2012.
• Swiss Post plans to move in to its new head office in autumn 2014.

Swiss Post is currently looking into the option of building the property as an investment of its own, rather than renting it, and expects to take a decision by late autumn 2011. If the decision is taken in favour of Swiss Post taking on the building as an investment, the company would enter into a building rights agreement with the City of Berne and would engage Losinger AG as general contractor.
