The long road to the tall building

Timetable  
June 2008: Swiss Post’s Executive Management gives the green light for the construction of a 13-storey high-rise in northern Bern to accommodate the head office of PostFinance.
November 2008: Over 93% of voters in Bern approve the necessary zoning change.
June 2009: The jury announces the competition winner (IGOR project by “Büro B Architekten und Planer AG and Overhage & Roggo Architekten”).
August 2009: Project launch with the architects, general contractor HRS, Swiss Post Real Estate and PostFinance Logistics.
December 2009:                     General contractor HRS submits the planning application.
April 2010: Berne city council unanimously approves handover of the development site by the city under a ground lease.

13 June 2010: Referendum on handover of the development site by the city of Bern
Third quarter of 2010: Scheduled start on site
31 December 2012: Scheduled handover of the building to Swiss Post
First quarter of 2013: Scheduled occupation of premises by PostFinance
