The French Riviera conurbation community has selected CarPostal France Ltd, a subsidiary of PostBus Switzerland Ltd, to operate its urban transport network. The new six-year public service delegation mandate will come into force on 1 June 2013. Counting the new mandate, CarPostal now operates a total of seven urban networks in France.

A major mandate

Nearly 67,000 inhabitants live in the 10 municipalities that make up the French Riviera conurbation community in the Alpes Maritimes department of France (of which the main ones are Menton, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Beausoleil). The urban network comprises 12 regular routes, a call-a-ride bus service, a transport service for people with limited mobility and a summer shuttle-bus service for tourists. CarPostal is also responsible for providing bus services to schools and school activities within the conurbation. The company increases its staff by 80, thereof 66 drivers, it is taking on from the previous operator to fulfil its new mission. 1.35 million kilometres will be covered each year by 34 of its own brand new vehicles. Local companies were accounted for by subcontracting 12 vehicles from two local bus operators. In its proposal, CarPostal emphasised service quality on the one hand and communication and successful measures to attract new customers on the other. The French Riviera network will also be given a new name and a new visual identity.

Strengthened position

This public mandate representing roughly 40 million Euros of turnover over six years is a landmark achievement in the development of CarPostal in southern France. This latest success strengthens its business that focuses on urban transport in medium-sized conurbations.
