Thomas Baur is new Head of Post Offices & Sales

The Swiss Post Board of Directors has appointed Thomas Baur Head of Post Offices & Sales and a Member of Executive Management. He succeeds Franz Huber, who will now lead selected strategic projects for the Group. Thomas Baur has been Head of Delivery at PostMail since 2005 and will take up his new position on 1 September 2016.

With the appointment of 52-year-old Thomas Baur as Head of Post Offices & Sales Group unit and therefore a Member of Executive Management, the Board of Directors has completed the arrangements for ensuring a successor to Franz Huber, who has reached the age of 65 and will now lead selected strategic projects, reporting directly to CEO Susanne Ruoff. Thomas Baur is currently Head of Letter Delivery at Swiss Post and a Member of the Management Board for the PostMail Group unit. He takes up his new position on 1 September 2016.

Thomas Baur has been working for over twenty years in various positions in the top management of Swiss Post. His career milestones include his role as Head of Logistics at PostMail, responsibility for the development of the Express and Courier product division, as well as various positions in Group IT. In his current role, Thomas Baur is a Member of the Board of Directors of the subsidiaries Mobility Solutions Ltd, Presto Presse-Vertriebs AG and Direct Mail Company AG.

Ideal figure for a challenging role

Swiss Post and its network of access points, including post offices, are undergoing a comprehensive transformation. With his background, expertise and experience in the management of strategic Group projects, Thomas Baur’s profile is the ideal match for the requirements associated with the role of Head of Post Offices & Sales. Thomas Baur holds an MBA in Supply Chain Management from ETH Zurich, and has also completed other training programmes on topics such as leadership, strategic management, logistics and marketing. He is the father of two children and lives in Kirchlindach in the canton of Berne.

Swiss Post would like to take this opportunity to thank Franz Huber for his excellent work and his many years of commitment to Swiss Post. He has worked at Swiss Post for 47 years, 19 of which have been at Post Offices & Sales. He was appointed Member of the Management Board of the Group unit in 1999 and since 2003, he has made a substantial contribution to its operational realignment. Franz Huber has led the unit since 2013, playing a decisive role in the development of Swiss Post and the transformation of the sales network.
