New stamps filled with love

Love is a recurring theme in Swiss Post’s fourth stamp issue of 2017 – from the celebration of love to romantic hearts and Switzerland’s best-loved symbols. Meanwhile the year book of Swiss stamps takes readers on a varied journey throughout Switzerland and its stories, institutions and attractions.

As well as being popular, Christmas carols are part of our culture and identity. With this in mind, Swiss Post is dedicating this year’s Christmas stamps to four popular Christmas carols: “Silent Night”, “Jingle Bells”, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Snow Falls Softly at Night”. The stamp motifs drawn by Berne designer and musician Boris Pilleri not only set the Christmas mood visually, but also sound Christmassy: if you scan the stamps with the Post-App, you can watch a magical festive video whilst enjoying some atmospheric Christmas music.

Setting hearts racing

As well as a special stamp for the celebration of love, Swiss Post’s current stamp issue also includes a special stamp devoted to love itself. With its deep red colour and hearts and roses embossed with silver foil, it symbolizes love in all its facets and turns every letter into a declaration of love. The stamp was designed by Benel Kallen. The special sheet is available exclusively from branches with a stamp counter or at postshop.ch.

Cows not only dominate the Swiss landscape and Swiss agriculture, they have also come to symbolize our country. That applies in particular to the spotted Simmental breed of cows that features on countless souvenirs – and now on one of Swiss Post’s special stamps. The stamp was designed by graphic artist Lisa Behmel in the style of old-fashioned Swiss tourist posters.

Just in time for Christmas, Swiss Post is once again presenting the year book of stamps – a very special document of our times: on over 100 pages, it showcases the 50 stamps issued this year and their stories, taking readers on a wonderful journey through our richly diverse country, its stories, institutions and attractions.

You can find more information about the stamps in the “Focus on stamps” magazine at www.magazine-focus-on-stamps.ch.
