Committed and ambitious employees at Swiss Post

Swiss Post employees are satisfied with their employer and are happy to be committed to their work and the success of the company. This was revealed by the results of this year’s survey sent to just under 49,000 employees. It achieved the highest response rate to date – 77 percent. Similarly to last year, the scores at group level are consistent and the positive assessment was rated as being medium-to-high.

Swiss Post is considered to be an attractive employer by its employees. High levels of identification with Swiss Post and the employees’ willingness to perform in the company show that those surveyed are proud to work for Swiss Post. They support Swiss Post’s products and services and are happy to fully support the company’s success. This is reflected in the results through a high positive assessment, with 82 out of 100 points for personal commitment (in 2012: 83 points). The ‘commitment’ index forms the central element of the survey and consists of identification, staff turnover, and willingness to perform.

Good teamwork and cooperation with managers and customers

The results paint a similar picture to last year throughout the whole group with a medium-to-high positive assessment. Once again employee satisfaction scored 75 points, while customer focus achieved 79 points. Overall, working in teams and with managers was perceived to be good; mutual support and the perceived opportunity to contribute to the success of the company are particularly high. The general work situation (work content, processes, workload and working conditions) were assessed as being just as good as last year, with 75 points.

Strategy and management

As in previous years, strategy achieved a medium positive score of 68 out of 100 possible points (2012: 67 points). Here, those surveyed were asked questions such as whether Swiss Post had experienced positive development and whether employees trust the heads of Swiss Post and its management. In general, although management received a lower statistical score (70 points) than the previous year (71 points), it is still at a good level. In addition, all other unit fitness factors, such as strategy, communication, innovation and development, scored similarly and were given medium positive scores.

The fifth time using the same measuring components

For the survey in May 2013, Swiss Post used the same measurement model for the fifth time in a row. In accordance with this model, scores of 60 to 74 points are considered to be a medium positive assessment, while scores from 75 to 84 equate to a high positive assessment. This year the questionnaire was sent to around 49,000 employees in seven languages and 20 countries. The highest response rate to date was achieved with this survey: 77 percent / almost 38,000 replies (previous year: 75 percent). Swiss Post will now analyse the results and take any necessary improvement measures.
