High level of punctuality in letter and parcel deliveries

In 2013, Swiss Post again achieved very high on-time delivery levels for letters and parcels: 97.6 percent of A Mail letters and 98.8 percent of B Mail letters arrived on time. For parcels, 97.3 per cent of all PostPac Priority and 97.7 of all PostPac Economy parcels arrived punctually. These scores exceed the requirements of the directives set by postal legislation.

Last year, Swiss Post processed over 2.2 billion addressed letters. 97.6 percent of all A Mail letters were delivered on time, while 98.8 percent of all B Mail letters arrived on schedule. A look over the past ten years shows that the scores achieved are at an exceptionally high level. By investing in modern technology and staff training, Swiss Post aims to ensure the reliability of the physical letter in the future, too.

Punctual parcel deliveries

In 2013, Swiss Post transported more parcels than ever before: over 114 million. Despite this high number, the company has maintained the high quality levels from previous years. In 2013, 97.3 percent of all PostPac Priority parcels arrived punctually. For Economy parcels, Swiss Post delivered 97.7 percent on time. In order to meet the needs of its customers even more efficiently, Swiss Post introduced a new range of services in 2013, including the pick@home collection service for online returns, evening and Saturday deliveries, My Post 24 parcel terminals or the opportunity to manage missed consignments online. PickPost is another service that was introduced some time ago. The service makes it possible to collect parcels and registered letters from over 700 alternative locations.

Postal legislation requirements exceeded

With these excellent results, Swiss Post takes top position for punctual deliveries when compared with international data. The scores achieved exceed the requirements of the new postal legislation. According to the directives, 97 percent of all letters and 95 percent of all parcels have to be delivered on time within Switzerland. These are the strictest requirements in Europe.

Scientific, independent data

Some 80,000 domestic letters are sent every year to measure the delivery times. These measurements are conducted by the independent market research institute GfK Switzerland AG in accordance with European standards. Data for parcel delivery times are based on a scientifically recognised sampling method. Another independent company, Consult AG, also monitors these measurements.
