Swiss Post’s employees are motivated and committed

Swiss Post’s employees have awarded their employer grades equal to last year’s at Group level, confirming their commitment to their work and the company’s success. The record response rate of almost 79 percent underscores this result. In this year’s employee satisfaction survey, around 50,000 Swiss Post staff were asked to assess issues such as their commitment, their work situation and their unit.

Swiss Post is considered an attractive employer by its staff. An extremely high level of identification and the above-average motivation of Swiss Post’s employees this year again show that the respondents are proud to work at Swiss Post. This is reflected in the result through a high positive rating, with 82 out of 100 points for personal commitment (2013: 82 points). The commitment index is the central element of the survey and consists of identification, staff turnover and motivation.

Good working conditions and pleasant working relationships

With a medium to high positive rating, the results remain stable year-on-year at a high level across the Group. This is despite major changes such as the conversion of Swiss Post into a public limited company, a new regulatory framework and ongoing negotiations on a new collective employment contract. Employees are particularly positive with respect to cooperation and mutual support within and between teams, their perceived ability to contribute to the company, and work-life balance. With 75 points, the work situation (work content, processes, workload and working conditions) was rated just as highly as last year. Employee satisfaction is again at 75 points, while internally perceived customer focus received 79 points.

Confidence in management and Swiss Post’s strategic focus

Employees see Swiss Post as an innovative company that is developing positively with its strategic focus. With the strong sense of cross-unit cooperation in place, they have confidence in management. At 72 points, this year’s measure of what is termed “unit fitness” remains unchanged in the average positive range. This category is made up of the factors strategy, management, information and communication, change and innovation, cooperation, and development.

Measurement categories unchanged over six years

For the survey in May 2014, Swiss Post used the same measurement model for the sixth year running. Values from 60 to 74 points are considered an “average positive” rating, while values between 75 and 84 points are rated “high positive”. The questionnaire was sent to around 50,000 employees in seven languages and 16 countries, and almost 79 percent responded. This is the highest response rate to date (previous year: 77 percent).
