Letters and parcels arrive on time

In 2015, Swiss Post once again achieved very high on-time delivery rates for letters and parcels: 97.8 percent of A Mail letters and 98.9 percent of B Mail letters reached their recipients within the promised period of time. For parcels, 97.5 percent of all PostPac PRIORITY and 97.5 percent of all PostPac ECONOMY parcels arrived on time. These scores exceed the requirements set by postal legislation.

Last year, Swiss Post processed around 2.2 billion addressed letters. 97.8 percent of all A Mail letters were delivered on time, while 98.9 percent of all B Mail letters arrived on schedule. As in previous years, the scores achieved are at a very high level. With investments in modern technology such as the sorting systems and with continuous improvements to internal workflows, Swiss Post is ensuring the reliability of the physical letter in the future, too.

Punctual parcel deliveries

In 2015, Swiss Post transported more parcels than ever before: over 115 million. This represents an increase in volume of 3 percent over the previous year. Despite this high number, the delivery quality remained high. In 2015, 97.5 percent of all PostPac PRIORITY parcels and 97.5 percent of all PostPac ECONOMY parcels were delivered on time. Swiss Post assumes that online trade will continue to grow by around 1-2 percent annually over the coming years. In order to guarantee high quality and punctuality going forward, Swiss Post is upgrading its parcel centers. Two additional sorting systems – one in the Frauenfeld and one in the Härkingen parcel center – have already been put into operation. The expansion of the Daillens parcel center is expected to be completed by the end of 2016. Thanks to investments totalling around CHF 60 million, the centers’ sorting capacities are being increased by around 25 percent.

Postal legislation requirements exceeded

The scores achieved clearly exceed the requirements set by postal legislation. According to the directives, 97 percent of all letters and 95 percent of all parcels have to be delivered on time within Switzerland. These are the strictest requirements in Europe. With these excellent results, Swiss Post takes top position for punctual deliveries when compared with international data.

Scientific, independent measurements

Some 90,000 domestic letters are sent every year to measure the delivery times. These measurements are conducted by the independent market research institute GfK Switzerland AG in accordance with European standards. Measurements for parcel delivery times are based on a scientifically recognized sampling method. Another independent company, Consult AG, also monitors these measurements.
