Christmas: Mail your letters and parcels in good time

For Swiss Post, the run-up to Christmas is the busiest time of the year. To ensure your Christmas post arrives on time, Swiss Post recommends you bear in mind the last possible mailing dates and times. Payments and payment orders must also be sent by their respective deadlines to guarantee that they are credited and debited to the desired accounts by the end of the year. The country’s 250 biggest post offices will remain open for postal transactions until 4 p.m. on 24 and 31 December.

Extended opening hours over the festive season

Swiss Post will be extending its post office opening hours over the festive period. Counters in Switzerland’s 250 biggest post offices will remain open until 4 p.m. on 24 and 31 December. A detailed list of opening times can be found at the entrance of each post office and online under  www.swisspost.ch/locations.

Things to remember when sending your mail

To ensure your mail can be processed smoothly, please address and package your item correctly. Swiss Post would like to remind its customers that the address should be affixed at the bottom right-hand corner on the front of the parcel and that light, single-colour packaging materials are particularly well suited to automatic processing. Swiss Post offers the PostPac as a reusable and robust alternative to your own packaging ( www.swisspost.ch/postpac). Furthermore, Swiss Post recommends that mail with valuable or fragile content be sent as «Registered» items. Over the Christmas period, Swiss Post is also incorporating seasonal stamps and a vast array of matching stationery into its range.
