Swiss Post intends to evaluate alternative locations to the previously planned new «PostParc» head office at the former Schanzenpost site in Berne for central and administrative functions. It is looking at the «WankdorfCity» development and the newly developed «Ostermundigen Sportplatz».The post office, the PostFinance branch and the Postbus station at Berne’s main railway station will remain at the central location. The new «PostParc» building will be constructed as planned.A definitive decision as to whether the central functions of Swiss Post will be partly or fully moved to either of the above-mentioned locations is likely to be taken in autumn 2010.The management of Swiss Post is particularly keen to continue reducing costs for administrative functions and to make better use of the good pedestrian and central location.

Swiss Post is considering moving its future «PostParc» head office to another location where the rent would be lower, rather than at the former Schanzenpost site in the centre of Berne, as a way of reducing the costs. The central and administrative functions would be affected by this move. The post office, the PostFinance branch and the Postbus station at Berne’s main railway station will remain at the central location. The central and pedestrian-friendly «PostParc» site above the railway tracks at the station is an extremely attractive location for third parties.By moving its workplaces elsewhere, Swiss Post sees an opportunity to lower the costs of its central and administrative functions. In doing so, it intends to lend even greater weight to its mandate to offer customers the best possible value for money.

PostParc project on track
