“Like hobbits in the Shire”
We sent eight families off to test our hiking suggestions. They came back from Graubünden and Western Switzerland with some fantastic stories.

Have you already been on a hike, or are you planning to go? I recently went hiking in the Appenzell region during my summer holidays. With the glorious weather and attractive trails, it was a great experience for the children and the adults alike.
And we weren’t the only ones: as the main partner of the Swiss Hiking Trail Federation, Swiss Post sent eight families out to test our hiking suggestions and report back on Instagram or YouTube.
This gave rise to some wonderful stories from different regions, two of which we will briefly present here.

Before the gates of Geneva
Valentine (online alias: Valentine Reine des Tartines) chose a relatively easy trail, partly because her son, Leo, is still small and partly because she is pregnant. The route before the gates of Geneva and along the Swiss border with France followed the Versoix River. They discovered numerous plants, animals and insects, as Valentine reports in her YouTube and Instagram posts.

Mystical worlds
Claudia Jucker, alias Hoi_Berlin, chose a hike at the other end of Switzerland. Her tour through the Val da Camp in the southern tip of Graubünden was like a journey to another world: “We felt like hobbits in the Shire. It was so beautiful!” You can find out what she saw there and what she experienced with her children on her blog and on Instagram. She has also posted a number of tips for hiking with the entire family.
