Vanessa Bianco is responsible for the development of products for business customers at PostMail. She has worked in operations before and sometimes visits the site in her normal role. “Gaining an insight into the processes is vitally important to me to develop the products and to ensure authenticity vis-à-vis the customers,” she explains. “I think that helping out in the current situation goes without saying.” She registered via Swiss Post’s internal jobs site to work at the Härkingen letter center, where parcels are also being sorted to take the pressure off the parcel centers. She works the late shift twice a week. “During my first shift I sorted over 2,500 bags.

That’s obviously a very different challenge physically to my office job.” She is also available during shifts to avoid neglecting her normal tasks. She helps out with the sorting of import consignments and bulk goods or wherever work needs to be done and drives her forklift truck around the letter center. Summing up her experience, she says: “You learn a tremendous amount working in operations. I think it’s great that I can lend a hand, the team are extremely grateful for the support and I can return to my normal working routine with a really positive feeling.”
