Useful information:
- Journey booked, suitcase packed, all you’re missing are the medical supplies. More specifically: you need to prepare a first-aid kit, get booster jabs, gather all your important personal (insurance) information and store it digitally, if possible. Incidentally: with the free electronic patient record (EPR), you have digital access to your important health data at all times in Switzerland and abroad. Open your electronic patient record onlineTarget not accessible.
- Do you want to receive your mail at your holiday address? Or would you prefer to store it with us while you’re away? We will be happy to send your consignments to your temporary address or to securely retain them so that your letter box doesn’t overflow, accidentally revealing you are away to people you don’t know. Go straight to our service.
- Make convenient payments, even abroad. Credit card or debit card? It’s best to take both of them on holiday so you can be flexible and have an alternative. As a rule, use a credit card for booking flights, hotels and rental cars, and use a debit card for everyday essentials. Ideally, both would be PostFinance cards.
Tips:
- For better currency exchange fees, always select the local currency when paying.
- Debit cards are generally the first choice for cash withdrawals abroad. Before making a withdrawal, however, be sure to quickly check your debit/credit card conditions.
- If they are PostFinance cards: in the PostFinance App, you can block your cards yourself in an emergency (and unblock them again if necessary).
- Leave your wallet in the hotel safe – and store your PostFinance debit or credit card in your smartphone wallet or another wearable and pay in next to no time. Please note: with Samsung Pay, it is currently only possible to store your credit card.
- Speaking of mobile payment: cash withdrawals with the PostFinance Card can now be made worldwide via Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Get properly insured: the PostFinance Gold and Platinum credit cards also offer insurance benefits for cancellation costs, flight delays or luggage, as well as travel accident insurance.
- Our special tip: See blog at postfinance.ch “How does a credit card benefit me when on my travels?”
- Useful links about foreign currencies:

- With the PostFinance App, you can keep on top of everything at all times. For the holiday period, we recommend:
- Activate card: if you need to, deactivate geoblocking for your card when travelling outside Switzerland and the EU (via “More” > “My card” > select relevant card > “Geoblocking”)
- Adjust limits: check your cards’ daily and monthly limits and adjust them if necessary (via “More” > “My card” > select the relevant card > “Card limits”)
- Keep track: activate push notifications for transactions (via “More” > “Notifications”). This allows you to keep an eye on your account and react quickly in an emergency.
