Infrastructure needs to be adapted to ensure Swiss Post customers can receive their consignments in future using electric delivery vans. “500 charging stations are planned at Swiss Post locations throughout Switzerland”, says Yves Luchsinger. This expansion is intended to support the planned electrification of the delivery fleet. 

This 33-year old and his colleagues at Post Real Estate are responsible for supplying energy to all of Swiss Post’s four-wheeled electric vehicles. The challenge faced in planning and installation of the charging stations lies in existing building infrastructures. “These are often not designed for operation using charging infrastructures”, he explains. 

Swiss Post put the first networked charging points into operation three years ago at its headquarters. These allow Swiss Post employees who drive electric cars to conveniently charge them – using 100%-verified eco-electricity by means of a charging card or, from this summer; an app. And what does the future hold? “We’re ready come what may”, he says. “All we need now is a broad range of electric car models.”
