As in the aristocratic world, protocols in IT also specify which rules must be followed so as to guarantee the desired process as well as security and efficiency. While the correct titles and dress code are important in aristocratic circles, a protocol in IT specifies rules that guarantee the correct functioning and security of digital communication and data transfer.
