A company limited by shares owned by the Swiss Confederation

Swiss Post is a company limited by shares subject to a special statutory regime that is wholly owned by the Swiss Confederation. It is managed as a holding company with the operating subsidiaries Post CH Ltd, PostFinance Ltd and PostBus Switzerland Ltd.

Swiss Post is an autonomous institution under public law. Legally, it is a company limited by shares subject to a special statutory regime, established in accordance with the Postal Organization Act.

The company is managed as part of a holding structure. Under the umbrella of Swiss Post Ltd, three subsidiaries drive the operational business: the postal business is carried out by Post CH Ltd and the banking business is handled by PostFinance Ltd; PostBus Switzerland Ltd is responsible for passenger transport.

Sole shareholder and thus owner of the holding company is the Swiss Confederation. Within the Federal Administration, the Secretariat General for the Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communication (DETEC), in conjunction with the Federal Finance Administration (FFA), assumes the role of owner and the associated tasks.
