Our employees at the post office counter are highly trained and carry out more than 300,000 identifications per year for a number of financial institutions.

To obtain a Yellow Identification, customers must produce one of the following forms of identity document:

  • Passport
  • Identity card
  • Valid residency permit (foreigner`s residency permit) for Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein
  • Driver’s licence (not incl. provisional license)
  • Diplomat’s passport
  • Travel documents for refugees

  • Valid identity card from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA)

Important information:

  • The ID document must be signed
  • We accept identity documents which have expired on condition that the person at the counter is recognizable as the same person on the identity document. Exceptions to this are residency permits (foreigners’ residency permits) for Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein and the identity card from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

Here’s how it works
Procedure in the branch

1

The customer requests certification of authenticity of their ID in their nearest branch.

2

Our counter staff identify the person in front of them using the identity document presented.

3

If the person at the counter and the person shown on the identity document are identical, the counter employee checks the identity document produced (validity, photo), copies the required pages (personal information, photo, validity and extension where applicable) and stamps it with "Original document seen by".

4

Our counter employee completes the stamp with their last name, first name, signature and branch date stamp and provides the customer with the certificate.

5

The customer pays for the service in cash, with a voucher or corresponding form (see purchase options).
