Christmas
There are pictures, feelings and activities that belong exclusively to winter – such winter-themed moments are portrayed in photographs in this year’s Christmas set.

Sandro Reichmuth, from Eastern Switzerland, travelled extensively around his home region to create the new Christmas stamps. The 44-year-old didn’t mind trudging through the snow in the freezing cold – being a landscape photographer, he enjoys being outside at any time of year. And whenever Sandro sees the perfect photo opportunity, he forgets everything around him; just as he did when he saw the Christmas tree in the St. Gallen Klosterplatz, providing the motif for the new Christmas set: “The evening sky wasn’t too dark yet, the fairy lights were already on, and a few flakes of snow fell right in front of my lens – a winter moment of happiness you can now see on a stamp.” The other three winter moments in the set depict the St. Gallen Gallusplatz during the busy Advent period, the Schwägalp Lantern Trail and a volcano firework going off near the village of Speicher in the Appenzell region to celebrate the new year.
