The designs in the set include the eight planets, the sun and the moon – the main representatives of our solar system. The galactic stamps are available separately or as a set of all ten designs together on a special sheet almost one metre wide. There are only 12,742 sheets. Why exactly that number? It is equal to the average diameter of the Earth in kilometres. Other little scientific factual nuggets about these fascinating celestial bodies can be found on the back of the special sheet. A couple in advance: a year on Mercury is 88 Earth days long, a day on Venus lasts longer than a year.
The set was created in collaboration with the Department of Astronomy at the University of Geneva and the University of Bern.
