125 years Caritas Switzerland
A stamp marking 125 years of solidarity: since its foundation in 1901, Caritas Switzerland has been combating poverty both at home and abroad.
Rich Content Section
In Switzerland, around one in 12 people live below the poverty line. This often affects families, single parents, unemployed people or the working poor. Together with regional organizations, Caritas Switzerland is committed to alleviating or preventing poverty through numerous measures, such as counselling and educational services, Caritas markets or second-hand shops.
The humanitarian organization was founded in 1901 as a charitable organization of the Roman Catholic Church. Despite its roots, the organization operates independently today, without any political or denominational affiliation. It is part of the international Caritas network made up of around 160 charitable organizations worldwide. This commitment to humanity and solidarity is captured in the commemorative stamp.
