EUROPA ‒ 70th anniversary of EUROPA stamp
Two stamps are being issued to mark the 70th anniversary of EUROPA stamp: the European winning design from Finland and an additional Swiss design that offers a visual interpretation of diversity and cooperation.
Rich Content Section
Since 1956, EUROPA stamps have been a symbol of cooperation between European postal organizations. To mark the 70th anniversary of EUROPA stamp, member countries have created designs relating to the joint annual theme of cooperation, innovation and diversity.
The official winning design by the Finnish postal service focuses on minimalist imagery: a rising, dotted line – inspired by the perforation of a stamp – symbolizes progress, connection and 70 years of cooperation.
Switzerland is supplementing this issue with a stamp of its own by designer Michael Stünzi, with stamps of different shapes and colours coming together to form a circle. As a symbol of how uniqueness and cohesion form a common whole, the issue pays tribute to the idea of a unified European postal system.
