Local artists – inclusion and mental health

On 7 May, two artists from the Inclusion – Mental health stamp set will be there in person at Swiss Post branches.

Wil SG – “Alles Käse”

Corina Schleuniger, designer of the “Alles Käse” stamp, is a guest at the Swiss Post branch 9500 Wil SG, Hubstrasse 18. The design was created at the Living Museum in Wil and provides personal insights into the artist’s thoughts, memories and feelings.

Autograph hours: 10 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. and 2 – 3.30 p.m

Schaffhausen – “Beflügelt”

Ljiljana Egli (formerly Spasojevic), artist of the “Beflügelt” stamp, gives an insight into her work at the Swiss Post branch in Schaffhausen, Bahnhofstrasse 34. Inspired by femininity, nature and inner energy, her design tells of growth, harmony and the power of imagination.

Autograph session: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m

The “Mental health” special stamps focus on art as a bridge between the inner world and social participation. Created in collaboration with the Living Museum, an open studio for people with mental health issues, they feature works by people affected who express their experiences artistically.

These physical creations retain their powerful visual imagery, even in small formats, underlining how creativity can foster a sense of belonging, promote self-efficacy and open up new perspectives.

This issue highlights Swiss Post’s commitment to inclusion and highlights the importance of mental health.

The four artists discuss what painting and designing means to them.

Painting is a way for me to express my soul and make my thoughts and feelings visible. It’s also a gift that helps me cope with all of life’s ups and downs. In my paintings, I mostly work with symbols - every detail is inspired by my memories, desires or imagination. This piece depicts me as a girl, sitting in my grandmother’s old armchair. In my hands, I’m holding a piece of knitting shaped like cheese. Just like the knitting, my life is in my hands: one stitch at a time, it takes shape and tells its own story.

My work depicts a female fantasy creature being watered from above, bringing life and growth to her body. The colours, symbols and rays reflect my inner world. I was inspired by my femininity, my connection to nature, my inner energy and the harmony between body, mind and cosmos. Painting puts me in a meditative state, allowing me to forget my worries and immerse myself in the world of my imagination. It also gives me a sense of self-determination. I discover new sides to myself whenever I finish a piece of art.

My image depicts a creature moving bravely forward. The idea behind it is a belief that adults have a childlike and pure nature, which can be a source of strength. Painting is part of my coping mechanism and gives me a sense of joy. It’s a bit like an anchor that connects me to the creative and concrete worlds. It can reveal insights into difficult feelings - or provide an outlet for them. It expresses things that are deeply rooted in my soul. And it affirms that I’m alive.

I would describe my painting as a walk in a forest of poetry and wonder created by chance. Everything is round; I’ve always been drawn to circular and oval shapes. I discovered my love of painting while experimenting with different materials such as Neocolor pastel crayons, oil pastels, emulsion paints, wax and acrylics. At the Living Museum, I feel free and have experienced first-hand how beneficial painting can be. The positive, relaxing energy enables me to be fully present, without being distracted by other thoughts.
