Shaun the Sheep
In autumn 2026, the third Shaun the Sheep film will be released in cinemas. To mark the cinema release, Swiss Post is issuing three special stamps with images of a film character that has delighted both young and old for years.

The adventurous sheep first appeared in Wallace and Gromit back in 1995 – since then, Shaun has become a celebrated film star with fans in over 170 countries. Following the first two films, the cult character is now returning to the big screen: “Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom” will hit Swiss cinemas in autumn 2026. In the latest adventure, the sheep herd’s pumpkin patch is destroyed. To save Halloween, which is just around the corner, Shaun turns into a mad scientist, with some unimagined yet comical consequences.
Did you know? This type of film is created using stop-motion, and up to 24 frames are required for just one second of animation. Objects are photographed frame by frame and then played back to create the illusion of smooth, continuous movement. This elaborate technique requires a great deal of attention to detail.
