The letter mail for a deceased person can be forwarded to another address for a certain period of time. This is useful, for example, if you want to send your mail to a relative until all the formalities have been completed. This ensures that the mail is not returned to the sender. Please note: redirection is suitable as an interim solution. Authorities and other contractual partners must be informed of the death separately.
You can only request redirection at a Swiss Post branch. For security reasons, we are not allowed to take orders over the phone or by e-mail in the event of death.
Please present the following documents at the counter:
- An inheritance certificate/heir’s certificate
- or family record book/family or partnership certificate
- or a notarized power of attorney
The redirection order costs CHF 57.00. The duration of the order is 12 months.
Fraud attempts on the Internet are increasingly targeting unwary users. The aim is to obtain sensitive data from these persons. You can find out what to be aware of and where to get help in suspicious cases under “Phishing and other fraud attempts on the Internet”.
