Home service order pen

The order pen is used to scan a code. The code is transmitted to Swiss Post, triggering the ordering of a product or service. The transmission is carried out via the LoRaWAN network. This is a far-reaching network for communication that wirelessly connects battery-operated devices to the Internet.

If you have placed an order by mistake, you can scan the cancellation code on the tip card. To do so, hold the pen over the recycle bin symbol. Please note that by scanning this symbol, all outstanding orders will be cancelled free of charge. This means that any orders you wish to remain valid will have to be placed again.

To receive confirmation via e-mail or SMS, register your order pen at  swisspost.ch/myorderpen. 

No, that’s what the tip cards are for. They allow you to place various orders. You can carry out transactions personally or non-personally:

• For personal processing, the mail carrier will ring at your door.
• For non-personal processing, you can place your consignment in your private letter box.

No. You can store the order pen in any location in your home. Please ensure that no unintended orders are made, e.g. by children.

Please test whether the order pen is transmitting data by using it near a window or in another room. You will find the corresponding symbol for the test scan on the tip card.

As a customer in an area with home service, you have the choice between placing orders online, using the app, using an order pen, or ordering by phone via the Contact Center.

Yes, the data is transmitted in encrypted format for your security. The encryption works using AES 128 encryption.

Yes, the order pen runs on a battery. The battery lasts up to ten years, depending on use.

The order pen transmits data using Swisscom’s long range wide area network. This is a far-reaching network for communication that wirelessly connects battery-operated devices to the Internet. The radiation exposure that occurs is comparable to that of a weather station. It reaches the level of radiation emitted by a conventional Wi-Fi router when running at full performance. Unlike most other technologies, the order pen only transmits when you press the button. Transmissions are sent only once every 72 hours for between 26 milliseconds and 1.4 seconds, depending on the location. Only this method makes it possible for the order pen to run for years on a single battery.

This means that the maximum transmitter power of the LoRaWAN order pen lies well below the limits that are currently considered to be safe for people’s health.

All customers within the home service area can use the order pen.
