How to send money

    Pay the money transfer amount, transfer fees, applicable taxes.

    Get the receipt with your Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

    Inform the receiver about the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) and the money transfer amount.

    The receiver can collect funds at any local Western Union agent location.

Western Union also makes money from currency exchange. When choosing a money transmiter, carefully compare both transfer fees and exchange rates. Fees, foreign exchange rates and taxes may vary by brand, channel and location based on a number of factors. Fees and rates subject to change without notice.

Due to certain transaction conditions – such as amount sent, country of destination, availability of currencies, legal announcements, proofs of legitimacy, opening hours of the sales offices, different time zones or the option to delay payouts – may delay money transfers or make services unavailable. Additional restrictions may occur. The maximum amount to be sent is CHF 8,500 or the equivalent in local currency per person per transaction per day. Splitting the transaction is not allowed. The sender and the recipient must present a valid passport (identity card). For mobile phone transactions, the amount is credited to the recipient’s mobile wallet using the account associated with their mobile phone number. Additional third-party fees such as SMS fees, overdraft and withdrawal fees may apply. More information about the restrictions can be found on the transfer form. Depending on the size of the amount, additional information and documents relating to the transaction may be required on a case by case basis.

How to receive money
