The theme for 2020 was “Ancient postal routes”. Swiss Post worked with Germany to create its entry, which depicted a route from 1627 printed across two stamps. The route was operated by the famous House of Thurn and Taxis and ran from Rheinhausen in Germany, passing through Basel and Zurich, before reaching Milan and Mantua.

Once again this year, PostEurop, the Association of European Public Postal Operators, is running a competition to find the best EUROPA stamp design. The resulting stamps are intended to promote cooperation in the postal sector – especially, of course, in the area of philately. The winner of the competition will be decided through an online vote.

This year’s theme is “Endangered national wildlife”. Switzerland has produced yet another beautiful entry, which features two filigree butterflies: the woodland brown and the scarce large blue. Again, there are good chances of achieving a top ranking.
