Stamp Day 2021 Horgen
The special sheet with surcharge issued to mark “Stamp Day Horgen” features ferries on Lake Zurich. This highlights the importance of waterways in the Horgen region.
Rich Content Section
Stamp Day – a category II exhibition – is to be held in Horgen from 25 to 27 November 2021. The organizational committee of the Horgen Philately Society chose the ferry to Meilen as the venue for the official opening ceremony. The ferry not only connects the two banks of the lake at Horgen and Meilen. It also offers a much quicker option for private transport between the Zurich Oberland and Central Switzerland than travelling around the lake − including ten minutes of relaxing lake air and spectacular panoramic views − and is vital to the entire region.
The ferry link was also selected as the design for the miniature sheet issued to mark the exhibition. Both ferries are depicted in their municipal colours at their respective berths in Horgen and Meilen. There is a white space between the two stamps – each of which has a value of 50+25 centimes – to symbolize the link crossing the lake.
