Founded in 1874 and based in Bern, the Universal Postal Union is the world’s second oldest international organization. It makes cooperation between the 192 member states – including Switzerland – considerably easier, among other things, by defining norms and standards. Without the Universal Postal Union, all postal organizations would have to come to bilateral agreements with each other. The stamp is the work of well-known animator and motion designer David Odermatt. His activities include façade projections and light installations. On the stamp, David uses part of an animation he created in Zurich.
