The world’s laziest and greediest cat is coming back in a new comedy. In Switzerland, the film will also be screened in Swiss German.

It’s been 20 years since a US blockbuster has been dubbed in Swiss German. In spring 2024, the famous Garfield will hit the big screen, speaking Swiss German in that part of the country. The movie starts with a flashback from Garfield’s life, in which he appears as an adorable kitten being adopted by Jon. Two attractive stamps – orange, obviously! – are being issued to mark the occasion, featuring a young and grown-up Garfield.

PRINT ERROR – In Focus on Stamps 2/24, we indicated that Mike Müller, the well-known Swiss satirist and actor, would be lending his voice to the scruffy street cat Vic, Garfield’s long-last father. Sony Pictures has informed us that the voice of actor Andrea Zogg will now be used for Vic (instead of that of Mike Müller, who has other commitments).
