Forwarding of mail to your temporary address
By arranging to have your mail forwarded, you can receive it at a temporary address during your absence. To have Swiss Post forward your mail during your holiday, all you need is a temporary forwarding order.
During periods of absence, Swiss Post automatically forwards letters addressed to you to the temporary address until a predetermined date or cancellation of the order, ensuring that you receive your important documents at your temporary address.

Forwarding or suspending newspaper subscriptions during your holiday absenceOpen collapsible container Close collapsible container
The publisher is responsible for forwarding newspapers to your holiday address or temporarily suspending your subscription.
Click on your newspaper and choose “Forward subscription” or “Suspend subscription”. This will take you directly to the correct page for issuing the order.
Is temporary parcel forwarding subject to a fee?Open collapsible container Close collapsible container
Yes, temporary parcel forwarding is subject to a fee. You can choose between two different pricing models.
Firstly, there is the option of opting for a flat fee for two weeks of parcel forwarding for CHF 15.00. Every additional parcel costs an additional CHF 4.00. Or alternatively you can pay CHF 8.00 per parcel. This option is particularly suited to small parcel volumes.

Orders must be made by 11 p.m. at the latest to guarantee execution of the order the following day. Please note that orders not placed at least four working days (Monday to Saturday) before the initial day of forwarding are deemed to be express orders that are subject to a surcharge.

If you have no login and do not wish to register, a range of options are available to issue the forwarding order.
Issuing an order by phone
As a Swiss Post private customer, you can also issue the forwarding order over the phone by calling the service number 0848 33 22 11. When issuing the order, you will need a credit card or a PostFinance Card.

Your local post office will also be happy to accept your forwarding order. Please bring valid proof of identity with you.

Orders can be given an end date or left to run until revoked.
Yes, addressed letter mail can be forwarded to foreign addresses.Court documents, parcels and military consignments are not forwarded abroad.

Generally excluded from the forwarding are PromoPost consignments, free newspapers, catalogues from general area delivery services that weigh more than 500g (postal prepayment impression “CAT”) and consignments with a poste restante or military address as their destination. Debt collection documents will only be forwarded within the debt collection district. Court documents, parcels and military consignments will not be forwarded abroad.
Despite the order, I had letters delivered. Why weren’t all letters retained?Open collapsible container Close collapsible container
It is our aim to ensure the service runs smoothly. However, mistakes are sometimes made. Contact us with your complaint so that we can take action to prevent this from happening in the future. However, please note that private delivery businesses also deliver consignments in larger cities and conurbations. It thus may be the case that, despite your forwarding order, mail ends up in your letter box.

Yes, if your order is still valid, you can extend or cancel it, or add a person or company. For orders that are to be sent within the next five days, only a change of date is permitted (extension or reduction). Order can also be changed by ringing 0848 88 88 88 or e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I also place an order without an account verified by mail?Open collapsible container Close collapsible container
Yes, it is possible to place an order even without a login verified by mail. Please note the following restrictions:
- Orders require a minimum of four days’ prior notice
- Forwarded mail can only be sent to addresses in Switzerland
- Payment by invoice is not possible
- An identification surcharge of CHF 5.00 will apply
Daily newspapers are often delivered by private delivery businesses. In this case, the newspaper will be delivered despite the order. Inform your daily newspaper of the forwarding order. If the newspaper is delivered by Swiss Post, this will of course be forwarded.
When forwarding mail in the event of a death, we would ask that this order be made at the post office counter. Setting up such an order involves special conditions and prices. You will also need to present one of the following forms of identification:
- inheritance certificate/heir’s certificate
- notarized authorization (valid after death)
- family record book
