You must use the FedEx free shipping packaging to send your documents and small goods. You can order this at any large Swiss Post branch or via the “Order forms & brochures” online service.

• Maximum weight: 500 g

• Recyclable and reusable^*
• Internal dimensions for FedEx Pak: 42.5 x 52.7 cm
• Maximum weight: up to 2.5 kg
• Value of enclosed goods: max. USD 100.00

^* ↑ Packaging quality must be like new. Only suitable for reuse when shipping unbreakable/shatter-proof materials.

For goods up to 30 kg:

For larger and heavier consignments, please use your own packaging.

FedEx shipping documents must be included with every URGENT consignment. These shipping documents (waybills and commercial invoices) can be created with ease using the “Create waybill (on account)” online service, whether you’re at home or out and about on your smartphone. You can have these documents printed free of charge at the post office counter by showing your generated barcode, or you can print and bring the documents yourself. This will save you time and money (CHF 5.00) at the counter.

The online service offers you additional features:

• Book notification of the consignment status from FedEx

URGENT consignments weighing up to 30 kg can be posted at any self-operated Swiss Post branch.

The delivery time varies from country to country. The estimated time of delivery is calculated for each consignment directly when the waybill is created in our online service.

Important: Delivery times are not guaranteed and delays at customs and local delivery times/conditions may require additional working days. Customs authorities may need to obtain additional information from the recipient, such as an authorization for customs clearance or an EORI number, so that customs clearance can be carried out. This is a routine process that may require additional time and therefore delay consignment processing. FedEx Express Swiss Post GmbH has no influence on the customs clearance process.

You can find the country-specific delivery times as a guide in the “Country information” online service or in the “Premium prices and information by country” online service.

Using the “Track consignments” online service, you can keep updated about the progress of your URGENT consignment. Simply enter the 12-digit tracking number of your URGENT consignment in the search field.

You can also follow your consignment’s progress directly with FedEx.

URGENT consignments are always delivered in person and signed for.

An “indirect signature“ is obtained.

This means that FedEx will allow deliveries to be signed for by another person at the delivery address, a neighbour or a property manager. If nobody is available to sign for the delivery, FedEx will attempt a new delivery.

Liability for the contents of your consignments in case of loss or damage is automatically included in the shipping price.

• Basic principle: 22 Special Drawing Rights per kg
• Documents and small goods: max. USD 100.00 per consignment (or equivalent in national currency)
• Goods: max. USD 50,000.00 per consignment (or equivalent in national currency)
• For “unique items” (e.g. precious stones, precious metals, jewellery, unprotected furniture, glass, china, works of art, important documents (including passports), smartphones, tablets, laptops, memory cards, etc.): USD 1,000.00 per consignment

• Can be booked directly when creating the waybill in the online service
• Weight limit of 68 kg per parcel, Multiple Parcel Shipment possible

Increase in liability

When declaring goods, our “Create waybill (on account)” online service offers you an increase in liability subject to a surcharge based on their value − for each additional USD 100.00 (or part thereof) that FedEx Express accepts beyond the standard liability limits. Max. USD 50,000.00 or equivalent in national currency. Exceptions to this are “unique items”.

Selection and price are displayed when the waybill is created in the online service.

FedEx may charge additional fees that are not noted in the consignment price.
