Fewer parcels, more staff and two new centers – 2022 in brief

2022 is now behind us. The year was marked by the lifting of coronavirus measures, the outbreak of the Ukraine war, a challenging energy supply situation and inflation. All of these factors had an impact on people in Switzerland and Swiss Post’s business. Here is a look back at a few key figures for Swiss Post.

30 percent

Despite the fall over the last 12 months, the upward trend in online retail is continuing compared to the last year before the pandemic. A 30 percent increase was recorded compared to 2019.

1,745 million letter mail items

As well as parcels, we processed and delivered over 1,745 million addressed letters in 2022. Despite the fall, this is still an impressive figure.

200,000 small parcels

Our mail carriers provided considerable support to their colleagues in parcel post. They sorted and delivered up to 200,000 small parcels every day.

2 regional centers

In 2022, two new regional centers in Buchs (AG) and Rümlang (ZH) began operations. There are plans to open more centers by 2030. This will enable us to keep pace with annual fluctuations and industry developments.

230 new staff

We created around 230 new jobs last year for the sorting and delivery of parcels. They joined our highly appreciated employees, who give their all every day to process letters and parcels.
