With Swiss Post’s IT trainee programme, your career is programmed for success.

Your profile

We’re looking for people who boost progress and live digitization.

  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in business information technology or informatics. You graduated no more than one and a half years before the start of the programme.

  • You have already gained initial work experience in internships or part-time jobs

  • You have a good command of German, French and English.

  • Your thinking is joined up, you show initiative and you are a versatile and interested team player.


The IT trainee programme lasts 18 months and comprises two placements of nine months each. We will assign you to your first placement based on your skills and interests. You will find your second placement yourself. Depending on the needs of Swiss Post’s business units outside Switzerland, you may also complete a three- to six-month placement abroad.

Trainee placements are available in the following areas:

  • Application development
  • Data warehouse
  • Java tools
  • System development
  • Security management
  • CRM projects
  • Business analysis
  • Quality management

Individual advanced training and networking

At the same time as completing your placements, you will benefit from individual advanced training, customer-facing placements and opportunities for networking. Each trainee has a training budget of 4,000 francs at their disposal.

Start and place of work

The trainee programme starts twice a year, in May and in November. The trainee workplaces are located mainly in Bern and Zollikofen.

The positions available in the IT trainee programme are always advertised online in April and November. You can apply online. Make sure you meet the deadline for applications. We will then need a little time to review your documents.

What happens next?

In the course of the application process, we use various tools.

Online assessment tools

We use assessment tools such as numerical and verbal tests. You decide when and where you complete the assessments.

Job interview

The trainee programme manager and the managers from the unit where your placement is planned will conduct a structured interview with you.


After the interview, you will receive feedback and we will inform you of our decision on your appointment.
