Service and features
You do not need your own containers. Swiss Post provides you with reusable containers free of charge for posting letters. Please note that the collection service for business customers, i.e. the delivery of empty containers by Swiss Post, is subject to a fee.
Bulk containers and letter crates are the property of Swiss Post and will be provided to you for the delivery of postal items.
Swiss Post provides you with letter crates on pallets for international shipping. Bulk containers cannot be used for this purpose.
It is not possible to order pallets in advance from Swiss Post. Please bring the same number of exchangeable pallets (observe EPAL criteria) as you are obtaining for one-to-one exchange or delivery slips with sufficient pallet credit for exchange items.
Empty container calculator
Do you want to post a large volume of letters, but do not know how many containers you need to obtain? The empty container calculator is an easy way to calculate the required number of empty containers.
Please note that the number of letter crates will be calculated in accordance with the defined delivery units. Around 250 standard letters (DIN C5 and B5) can be sent in one letter crate.
The empty container calculator is therefore not suitable for calculating the letter crate requirement for volumes of less than 10,000 standard letters, as the minimum quantity according to the calculator is 48 letter crates in bulk containers or 42 letter crates on pallets.
