Coronavirus: Swiss Post is right here for you – online, too

Switzerland is introducing more stringent measures to tackle coronavirus, and public life is restricted. We show you which online services you can still use to carry out your postal transactions from home.

Switzerland is in a state of emergency. On 17 March 2020, the Federal Council declared an extraordinary situation under the Epidemics Act and imposed drastic measures to contain coronavirus. The tense situation is not without consequences for Swiss Post.

1. Changes to the universal service

As protecting our mail carriers’ health is just as important to us as maintaining the universal service, we have made changes to their working times and, as a result, to our range of services. We will keep you informed on an ongoing basis at www.swisspost.ch/corona.

2. Flexible solutions

Swiss Post is doing its utmost to keep the impact on its customers to a minimum and ensure that letters, parcels and newspapers continue to reach your letter boxes. However, public life will now experience a great deal of changes. What will everyday life look like if we all have to avoid social contact? What should I do if I belong to a high-risk group and am no longer able to go to the shops or the post office? 

We’ll give you some tips for digital services that enable you to carry out a wide range of postal transactions from home.

3. pick@home

With pick@home, we collect your return parcels and registered letters from a location of your choosing – including from your doorstep, without any contact.

4. Domestic parcel labels

Would you like to send a domestic parcel to your loved ones? Fill in our domestic parcel labels online, and then print them yourself or arrange for us to bring them to you. You can pay the postage and collection costs directly online.

5. E-Post Office

The intelligent online letter box. In E-Post Office, recipients decide how they would like to receive their mail: on paper in their letter box, as an electronic PDF document in their E-Post Office inbox, or as an encrypted e-mail to their e-mail address. Mail received electronically can be managed and archived digitally. The service is also available as an app.

6. IncaMail

IncaMail enables you to send registered items by e-mail: securely, in encrypted format and with proof of postage and delivery – just like a normal registered letter. This service costs CHF 5 per month on subscription.

7. SMS postage stamp

Do you want to send a letter, but don’t have any stamps in the house? Simply send an SMS containing the word “STAMP” to 414, write the code you receive in the top right-hand corner of the envelope and then post your letter. You can also buy stamps at postshop.ch and have them delivered to your home.

8. Pay invoices at home: in e-finance, in the PostFinance App or on your computer

Manage your finances independently, anytime and anywhere. A wide range of functions and services are available to you. 

For example:

With Scan +Pay, you can scan and pay your inpayment slips easily and conveniently with your smartphone/mobile phone. 

Or pay invoices with the payment assistant. Enter the account and reference number and you’re done.

9. My consignments

You need never miss any parcels or registered letters, because Swiss Post will inform you in advance via SMS or e-mail of any items that are on their way to you. You can also manage your consignments, arrange a second delivery or place an order to deposit your mail.

10. Post-App

Thanks to the app, you can carry out postal transactions on your mobile: find access points with ease, track consignments, buy stamps via SMS or send postcards from your smartphone.

11. PostCard Creator  “homemade” postcard mailshots

Would you like to send a special message from your home office to loved ones you are currently unable to see? With PostCard Creator, you can create a template online in just a few steps – Swiss Post will take care of printing and mailing.
