The day of delivery may vary due to general and regional public holidays.
In order to guarantee delivery on the next working day, registered mail must be handed in at the branch counter by the usual close of business, no later than 18:30 on weekdays and 11:00 or 12:00 on Saturdays.. When sending mail at My Post 24 terminals or in letter boxes (in the case of Registered Prepaid items), the last collection or the last collection for A Mail applies (see posting at My Post 24 terminals or in letter boxes).
For letters handed over or posted after the cut-off times, the following day will be deemed to be the day of posting.
Registered mail and any value-added services must be labelled with a corresponding barcode. Consignments that are not yet ready for dispatch are labelled and processed by Swiss Post employees when posted in the branch.
The sender address must be shown legibly on the consignment. Otherwise, the regular design requirements for letters apply.
Business customers with a billing relationship
For business customers with a billing relationship, the customer numbre can be read from the individual barcode label or postage paid impression, and must therefore be printed or affixed to the letter in this format.
Swiss Post accepts liability of up to CHF 500 for loss, damage to the consignment or incorrect delivery. If the delivery is delayed, liability is restricted to the transport price.
With Registered Prepaid, payment of liability claims against Post CH Ltd is only possible on submission of proof of posting (when handed over at a branch counter or Post 24 terminal) or if the consignment is currently in Swiss Post’s electronic consignment tracking system.
For business customers with a billing relationship, content limits apply to the shipment of valuables sent via Registered mail. If these limits are exceeded, all liability will be declined. Detailed information can be found in the GTC “Postal services” (PDF, 166.9 KB).
With the “Track consignments” online service, you can track the progress of your registered letters along the entire route.
If the registered letter is not collected or is refused by the recipient, Swiss Post sends the item back to the sender by registered mail at the sender’s cost (CHF 5.30). The return shipment will take a maximum of two working days.
“Return as unregistered”
If the item is to be returned without liability and not as registered mail, you can indicate “Return as unregistered” on the consignment. This enables “unregistered” undeliverable items to be returned to the sender for a reasonable price for “undeliverable items subject to tax” within seven working days.
Liability up to a maximum of CHF 500 in the event of loss, damage or incorrect delivery is not available for the return route. Please note that the method used for returns with instructions is not recorded in Track & Trace.

Registered and Registered Prepaid must be posted in a sealed envelope and include a sender so that the consignment can be returned to the sender in the event of a return.
Registered mail from business customers with a billing relationship, which is posted ready for dispatch (with barcode, barcode list/delivery note and correct franking), must be handed in at a counter for business customers, in a branch or with a collection along with the barcode lists/delivery notes.

Registered Prepaid
Detach label from the Registered Prepaid sheet, stick to the envelope and drop your special price registered mail off in your branch or at a My Post 24 terminal. Or even easier: post your registered mail in any Swiss Post letter box (please observe specific liability conditions and services offered). Registered Prepaid is available at postshop.ch and in your branch.
Please note: certain “Registered Prepaid” labels do not stick well to letters. To prevent labels from getting lost during sorting, we recommend that you also secure the label with transparent adhesive tape. If only a barcode can be seen on the front of your sheet, this means that your “Registered Prepaid” label is one of the types of label that is less sticky.
